Love To Read For Fun

Finding romance, one book at a time.

Pickup Men

Pickup Men - L.C. Chase Thought it was okay. I didn't like Tripp at all even though I understood why he was in the closet and refuses to come out. I felt that what happened in the end, with the attack and who did the attacking, was a bit much and kinda predictable. Would have preferred a different way for the reconciliation to happen.full review to come

Fix You (Second Chances)

Fix You - Mari Carr 3.5 starsI love a good friends to lovers story. Parts of this book are sad due to Zoey's cancer diagnosis. Others very sexy and hot. I loved the flashbacks featuring Zoey and Robbie's friendship.A sweet story about friends finally realizing that they mean more to each other.

Dirty Distractions

Dirty Distractions - Cari Quinn Woo hoo!! Older woman/younger man story. Yesssss!!!!!!Really enjoyed Dirty Distractions. And I loved the characters. We need more stories like this. Or stories in general where the heroine is in her late 30s/early 40s. This is the kind of romance I'm looking for these days .I don't care about people in their 20s finding love. Give me a sexy and engaging story about an established woman who has it all BUT love. Throw in a younger, sexy mechanic and this romance works for me in every which way.Entertaining and sexy, I really liked this book.

Not Until You Part III: Not Until You Crave (Loving On The Edge, #3.53)

Not Until You Part III: Not Until You Crave (Loving On The Edge, #3.53) - Roni Loren Foster, Pike and Cela's not of passion is over and they're back to their normal lives. Cela can't forget the connection she felt with Foster and Foster feels the same way. But Cela only got a small taste of what Foster wants from a woman. He's not sure that Cela will be able to handle his demands in the bedroom. In this latest installment, Foster is struggling with what he feels for Cela. Cela's innocence and the fact that she has a life that is all planned out for her doesn't make her sub material. But Foster sees something in Cela that calls to him. Cela still wants Foster but now that he's giving her the cold shoulder, Cela is moving on with her life and her plans to move back home. It doesn't help that Cela's brother, Andre, warns her to stay away from Foster. This makes her curious as to what her brother knows about Foster.I really liked that Foster finally revealed his true self to Cela. Cela seems to think she can handle Foster and give him what he wants but she has no clue what he is which proves how innocent she truly is. Even though the threesome quickly turned into a twosome, it feels organic to the story. I don't think I would have truly believed that Cela would have sex with both Pike and Foster and be okay with that.I'm interested in seeing where this will lead. Will Foster take Cela to The Ranch to show her what he's really about? I hope so and I can't wait to see her reaction.

Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampire, #1)

Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampire, #1) - Larissa Ione Larissa Ione does it again. Vampires are so 2010 but Ione manages to make Bound by Night fresh. It's just not an ordinary vampire story. I love that these vamps are different and the lore involving Native Americans is new and fascinating.Loved the characters. The males remind of her Demonica series. A great brotherhood that works together to protect their clan. The females are just as important as the males and I am hoping that Katina will get her own book. I could not put this book down. Loved it from beginning to end. Can't wait for the next book!Full review to come closer to release date.

Finding Master Right

Finding Master Right - L.A. Witt too much back and forth. no communication. the story dragged.

Bound by Him: A Billionaire's Club Story (The Billionaire's Club)

Bound by Him - Red Garnier I think I would have enjoyed the book more if Whitney wasn't so young. I read this book at the wrong time. At a time where I'm over early 20-something heroines. In this book, Whitney is 22/23. Andrew is 6 years older. So when I started reading and her age was revealed, I kinda checked out. My bad.Overall, I'm liking this series. I can't wait to read the next book.

Claimed by Him: A Billionaire's Club Story (The Billionaire's Club)

Claimed by Him: A Billionaire's Club Story - Red Garnier Virgin heroine.... blech. So over it. Graves is really dark and I wish there was more of him. more than half the book was sex, sex, sex. A quick and entertaining read.
Beauty and the Billionaire (Billionaire Boys Club #2) - Jessica Clare I am in love with this series. I was hesitant to read the first book because it had 'billionaire' in the title and I kind of sworn off Billionaire books. But this series is so different from other Billionaire books out there. I'm so happy that I gave this series a chance. We met Hunter in the first book. He lives a pretty solitary life thanks to his scarred face. In book 1, when he spies on Gretchen and Bronte, he is immediately taken with Gretchen. He hears her say that she doesn't care about a man's looks and he figures that if she truly means that, Gretchen could be the woman for him. Hunter finds out everything he can about Gretchen and lures her to his house under false pretenses. I know this sounds creepy but it's really not. At least, I didn't think it was creepy.Gretchen is intrigued by the writing job that miraculously landed in her lap. When she arrives at Hunter's home, she's taken aback by how stark it is. His butler is not very cooperative and there aren't a bunch of servants running around. When Gretchen finally meets Hunter, it's not under the best circumstances and when she tries to apologize, she keeps making the situation worse. Gretchen slowly brings Hunter out of his shell and when she sees his face, she understands why he lives such a solitary life. Gretchen is intrigued by Hunter and wants to get to know him better, a lot better.I love the Beauty and the Beast spin of Beauty and the Billionaire. When I learned that Hunter was a virgin, I was immediately sold. Gotta love those virgin heroes. Hunter's virginity was handled realistically. He's no stud in the bed, he gets too excited a couple of times and pretty much doesn't know what to do. Gretchen's patience with him was sweet and sexy. She wasn't concerned about Hunter's looks. She wanted to be with him despite his looks.Hunter's wounds are not just on his face. Because of his scars he doesn't trust that someone like Gretchen would like him for him. Hunter and Gretchen's perfect life unravels when outside forces invade their cozy environment. The journey to an HEA is not an easy road for Gretchen and Hunter. Hunter has to learn to trust and Gretchen has to forgive Hunter.Beauty and the Billionaire is a great installment in this series. I loved Hunter and Gretchen. They are a great couple and loved their journey together. Can't wait to read the next book!If you haven't started reading this series yet, I highly recommend you do.

Not Until You Part II: Not Until You Risk (Loving On The Edge, #3.52)

Not Until You Part II: Not Until You Risk (Loving On The Edge, #3.52) - Roni Loren I am anxiously waiting for each installment. I love Cela and Foster. For me, Pike is a non-factor because clearly this story is all about Foster, Cela and their eventual HEA. My one complaint after reading the first installment was Cela's age. After doing some research, I discovered that this serial is a hybrid of NA and Adult romance. So I'm going to go with it and not focus on Cela's age too much anymore.Foster, Pike and Cela leaves the club and goes to a swanky hotel. Foster spares no expense. Cela is looking forward to her menage with Foster and Pike but she has a secret. But she doesn't want to reveal the secret because she doesn't want Foster or Pike to hold themselves back, sexually.Although the sex scenes between Foster, Pike and Cela were well-written, I felt like something was missing. Like there was no connection between Cela and Foster and Pike. Foster is a Dom and he is more dark and intense than Pike but I wasn't feeling it. Some parts lacked heat for me and Loren can write some smoking hot sex scenes.Despite my issues, I am still enjoying this serial and can't wait for the next installment.

Making it Last (Novella)

Making It Last - Ruthie Knox I have been whining a lot recently about the lack of romance books about married couples. It's as if once a couple say their "I Love Yous" and have their HEA, that the romance is done. And it's not. I need more books about married couples finding romance again in their marriage. There is romance in marriage and Ruthie Knox writes about it effortlessly and beautifully in Making It Last.Reading about Tony and Amber's struggle to reconnect was very relatable. They've been married 10 years and have 3 boys. The economic downturn has hurt Tony's construction business so he's working long days to make ends meet. Amber is overwhelmed with raising three boys. She's trying to find her place in the world and questioning her identity. She wants to be more than just a mom and a wife but doesn't know where to start. Also her relationship with Tony is frayed. While in Jamaica for Amber's brother's wedding, Tony decides to let Amber stay, alone at the resort, for several days. He figures his wife needs some time away from the boys and the stress of everyday life. But Tony's generosity could backfire.Making It Last had my emotions all over the place. I could totally relate to Tony and Amber pretending to be strangers in a bar, flirting and drinking. Me and my husband have done the role-playing thing many times. What I loved about this novella is that it's so real. Anyone who's been married or in a relationship for a long time knows what it's like when responsibilities and real life take precedent over your love life. The romance gets put on the back-burner. Sex becomes monotonous where you're doing what needs to be done to reach an orgasm so that you can go to sleep at a decent time since you have to wake up early and go to work the next day.I could totally relate to this story. Some parts are sad. Some were sexy and hot. Some parts were just plain real. I felt for Tony and Amber and was rooting for them to work it out. I really enjoyed this novella and I thank Ms. Knox for writing it. There needs to be more romance novels about married couples. Romance doesn't die once the honeymoon is over. Romance is being tired and cranky and stressed out and all the while still being in love with the person you're committed to. That's real romance.

Avoiding Mr. Right (Walk on the Wild Side, Book 2)

Avoiding Mr. Right - C.J. Ellisson I wasn't a fan of Carla from the previous book. I thought she was a total bitch. My opinion of her didn't change much when I finished reading Avoiding Mr. Right.Carla claims that the men she meets and sleeps with are dumb and boring in bed. She's tired of having bad sex. But I'm thinking she's the one who's bad in bed. After that "tolerable" encounter with Andy, with Carla barking out orders and then falling asleep, I firmly believe that she's the problem. Not the men. Carla has trust and commitment issues which stems from her dad leaving them when she was a teen and her being still being super bitter about it 15 years later.Andy is a nice guy who has the hots for Carla. But because he's an accountant (gasp! the horror!), in Carla's warped mind, Andy can't possibly be exciting or good in bed. Uh okay Carla. Weird generalization you got going on there. But Andy is determined to prove Carla wrong even though Carla is being mean and bitchy to him.For the most part, I enjoyed Avoiding Mr. Right despite not liking Carla. I still don't think I fully understood her motivation or her actions. I adore Andy and don't think Carla is good enough for him. Throughout the book, I wondered what he saw in her. I mean, it's not like Carla's the nicest person in the world or the most open. There were a couple of things that happened in the book that confused me. Or made me feel that it was an unnecessary to the plot. The whole thing with Carla's dad felt abrupt and completely out of left field. I guess this was supposed to happen to help Carla and her mom move on but it didn't feel organic to the plot. The ending of Avoiding Mr. Right felt abrupt. I wasn't expecting it to end when it did.An overall enjoyable story with a too nice hero with a naughty side in the bedroom, Avoiding Mr. Right was a fun read. Carla never won me over. She was too much work, played too many games and at times not a very nice person. But thankfully, Andy more than made up for it.

Playing the Part (Entangled Brazen)

Playing the Part - Robin Covington Playing the Part is my first Robin Covington book and it won't be my last. First and foremost, I am so happy that the hero is biracial! I think this is the first biracial character (half black, half white) that I've read in mainstream romance. It makes ZERO sense that romance novels featuring people of color or where one of the main characters is of color have to have their own category. This is 2013 people!Mick is an an action start trying to transition to deeper roles. He's staring in the movie adaption of Piper's book. Mick is having a hard time with the emotion of the character so the production company brings in Piper to help Mick relate to the character. Piper is done with dating actors. After embarrassing herself and almost killing her career, Piper has worked hard to get herself back on track. But Mick has other plans. He is attracted to Piper and wants her for himself while Piper is working on the film. Piper sees nothing but trouble in Mick but she can't deny the attraction. What's the harm in having a fling with one of the hottest actors out there?I was sucked into the story from the start. Mick and Piper's sexual chemistry is off the charts! Mick is such a player but he's also very likable. He doesn't hide who or what he is. I liked that he mentions how difficult it has been as a biracial actor to get starring roles. That bit of information adds so much reality to the story.Mick and Piper together are very likable. And they have lots and lots of sex which makes sense because they're only having a fling, right? But this is contemporary romance so there's of course the HEA. But there are some bumps and hurdles that Piper and Mick must go through before they get there.Again, I loved Playing the Part. It's sexy and funny. I loved the characters. I am SO happy that the hero is biracial. Books that break the romance norm really stand out for me especially when they are so well-written. I could not put this book down. I'm looking forward to reading more from Ms. Covington.

Wilde Nights in Paradise (A Wilde Security Novel) (Entangled Brazen)

Wilde Nights in Paradise - Tonya Burrows For the most part I enjoyed the book. Liked the characters. I felt that the ending was rushed. Jude has so many issues and revelations that I felt like more time should have been spent exposing them. Too much time spent with Jude and Libby alone in the house, with no progress being made with their relationship (other than sex).Full review to come.

Flirting with Disaster (Camelot, #3)

Flirting with Disaster (Camelot, #3) - Ruthie Knox Flirting with Disaster definitely made up for the meh feelings I had about the previous book, Along Came Trouble. Sean is a geeky hacker and he also has a stutter. He has the hots for Katie and because of this, he won't speak to her because she brings out his stutter. Katie is trying to get her life back on track. She wants to work on a case and prove herself to her brother. The only problem is that she has to work with Sean. And how can you work with someone who won't talk to you?I loved Sean and Katie together. I'm a sucker for a geeky hero. Sean is very manly and sexy despite his stutter. Katie is funny and smart and I really liked her. Katie is very straight forward about what she wants. I love that she is a strong character who doesn't whine and throws hissy fits. The case (Jonah the rock star) that Sean and Katie are working on is a sizable part of the book as well. While I enjoyed their time working together, I felt like Jonah took up too much of the book. I was anxious to get back to Sean and Katie and I could care less about Jonah. Towards the end, I pretty much skimmed when Jonah was on the scene.Overall, I really enjoyed Flirting with Disaster. Sean and Katie are great characters that you can root for and fall in love with.

No Strings Attached

No Strings Attached - Nicolette Day I am a sucker for a friends to lovers story and No Strings Attached did not disappoint. Jace and Hayden have been friends for a long time. Hayden has landed her dream job and is getting ready to move to Sudan. Jace has been in love with his best friend for a year and doesn't want her to leave. Hayden wants to spend her last night in town being wild and having a one night stand. But will Jace get in the way of Hayden's fun night? No Strings Attached is a super cute story. I really liked Jace and Hayden and they have great chemistry. In less than 100 pages, the author was able to convey the depth of their friendship and the underlying longing that the two have for each other. The sex scenes were hot and fulfilling. Nothing felt rush. My only complaint with great novellas that is that I wish it was longer.
