This is the fourth book I've read by Kimberly Kaye Terry. She writes erotica that features inter-racial couples; usually a black woman and a white man. Normally her books are hot and steamy but this one fell flat. And the premise of the story was so ridiculous that I my review will be infused with snark. I apologize in advance. Gaby catches her boyfriend having sex with another woman, in her bed of all places! So what does a scorned woman do? She goes to a nightclub to pick a random guy so that she can have random sex! So take that cheating, ex-boyfriend! Gaby goes there looking for some action and revenge. She can't believe that Alex would cheat on her and that he would have the kind of dirty sex with another woman that he would never have with her. While she's nursing an apple martini - got to keep it classy - in walks "Sweet", the club owner. Of course he's tall, dark and handsome. She must get his attention. This is the perfect guy to have a one-night stand. His reputation precedes him. There's a reason why his nickname is "Sweet." Is it just me, or does that totally sound like a pimp name? I digress. So what does a scorned woman do to gain the attention of a handsome man? Why she flashes him the goodies of course! Not just a peek of the goodies but a full frontal as she's wearing a short skirt with no undies. And like any normal red-blooded male, he takes her up on her offer and gives her the key to the elevator that leads up to his loft. She arrives at his loft, they have instant chemistry and attraction and they knock boots. Gaby is full of untapped sexual energy and talent and it only took Sweet's sweet ministrations to bring it to fruition. All of a sudden, she's a tigress in bed. The sex scenes were hot, don't get me wrong. I tweeted a couple of passages while I was reading. But then the hot monkey sex cooled off and the author focuses on the plot. The nerve! And this is where the book started to lose me. It turns out that Sweet is Demetri, a former FBI agent who's pulled into working on one more case and that case happens to be the investigation of Gaby and ex-boyfriend Adam. They're running a prescription drug scam and it is up to Demetri to bring them down. This subplot totally took over the majority of the book and I lost interest. What started off as a hot, steamy read started getting all NYPD Blue on my ass. Pfffttt! And in the beginning there was a hint at possible BDSM action and I never got any! I was so disappointed. There was mild spanking *yawn* which was boring and could have been left out of the story. Spanking is so blase. I get spanked just walking to the kitchen! Why even bother? I needed something hotter!Flutter factor: The Sweet Spot had a lot of potential. It started off steamy and sexy and quickly fizzled with the whole FBI investigation aspect of the plot. The ending was neat and tidy and I totally hated it. I didn't like Gaby; I thought she didn't deserve a guy as sexy as Demetri. And I didn't like how she was portrayed as this perfect, do-gooder angel who rivaled Mother Teresa!. Puh-leeze!There were also plot continuation issues, POV changes and character names being interchanged erroneously that I wouldn't expect from a seasoned author. Made me wonder where was her editor?I love Kimberly's books and this one won't deter me from reading more from her. This one just didn't tickle my fancy like her previous works.
