I love when I purchase a book on a whim. This is the first book that I’ve read by Jill Shalvis and I was not disappointed. Imagine my shock when I found out 80 pages into the book that Slow Heat is book 2 in the Pacific Heat series. Should I stop reading and head to the bookstore and get book 1? Nah! I’m enjoying Wade and Samantha entirely too much. Slow Heat is the reason why I love contemporary romances so much. Great characters (main and supporting), dialogue and plot; this book had it all. Flutter factor:I loved Slow Heat. It was sexy, funny, and romantic. The characters chemistry leaped off the page. The budding romance between Wade and Sam was believable and enjoyable. Even without having read Double Play, I was able to follow the plot and the side characters. Enough background information was provided where I wasn’t confused or feeling like I was missing out. My only complaint is the abrupt ending. I turned the page expecting to find an epilogue and was disappointed that I didn’t. Even with the ending, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading more from Jill Shalvis in the future. Now, I’m off to get Double Play!
