Really 3.5 stars. A Season of Seduction is the third book in the Tristan Family series. This is the first book I've read by Jennifer Haymore. Even though this novel is part of a series, you can read it as a stand alone. The author does a wonderful job with providing information from the previous books without bogging down the plot with too much information. We know that Jack’s intentions towards Becky are not honorable but it was hard to dislike him. He knows that to save himself, he must seduce her and betray her. But as Jack spends more time with Becky, his feelings for her grow and we see how conflicted he becomes. Becky is attracted to Jack but doesn’t believe in romance and marriage, at least not for her. After a disastrous first marriage, Becky doesn’t see herself having a Happy Ever After. She is content with having a sexual encounter with Jack and nothing more. When Becky finds out about Jack’s nefarious intentions, she takes matters into her own hands. Although I first was happy that Becky didn’t lean on her brother or cousin to fix her own matters, I soon began to think that maybe Becky was being too independent and that she should lean on her family for support every once in a while. Becky is a woman scorned and when confronted by Jack and his betrayal, I thought that she took matters a little too far. A Season of Seduction was a great read. Since I hadn’t read books 1 and 2 of the series, I foolishly thought I wouldn’t be consumed by the great characters and wonderful plot. Silly me! I now want to read the first 2 books of the series. An engrossing read, A Season
