Finding romance, one book at a time.

Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4)

Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) - Kristen Ashley I am a huge fan of the TV Show Sons of Anarchy and I am liking the trend of romance stories being centered around a MC (Motorcycle Club). It adds an edge that's missing in most contemporary romance stories. My first Kristen Ashley experience didn't go well. I wasn't a fan of Wild Man or the author's writing style. I'd heard so many positive things about Motorcycle Man and the hero, Tack, that I figured I'd give KA another try.I enjoyed Motorcycle Man. Tack is an awesome hero and I really liked Tyra but I am not down with KA's writing style. I was fully engaged for about 50% of the book. Tack and his alphaholeness had me hooked. Tyra and her fiestiness was entertaining. The problem I had with Wild Man, I had the same problem with Motorcycle Man -- repetitive phrases and long, rambling monologues. I also had a problem with 'yeah?' tacked on at the end of sentences. For the first half I was able to ignore it but at the midway point, when the story started to drag (for me), it stood out more and more. As the story the progressed, the more I noticed and was annoyed.I hope the Chaos series is heavily edited. I liked Motorcycle Man for the most part and am looking forward to Shy and Tabitha's story in the spin-off series. I liked Tack and Tyra. I liked his kids and the MC. What I didn't like was the repetitive phrases! I'm sorry, but people don't talk like that in real life (for the most part) and if they do, you don't put that in a book. It ruins the reading experience for the reader who's not used to people talking like that. At times the author had Tyra sounding like a 4 year old with..."and then I did this. and then I did that. And then this happened. And then..." it was annoying. And Tyra always saying "oh boy" or "oh god" multiple times ON ONE SINGLE PAGE! Come on now. Let's use some of those extra words and phrases for more detailed sex scenes. For example, I wanted to know what Tack and Tyra did with the Cool Whip. C'mon! Give us those details. The last 10-12% of the book I could have done without - the POVs from characters from other books. What was the point? I don't care what those people think. To me it added nothing and frankly, I skimmed it because I care about Tack and Tyra, not them. Maybe if I'd read the previous books, other than Wild Man, I would have appreciated it more.I liked Motorcyle Man wayyyy better than Wild Man. I don't know if I want to read Mystery Man. People say it's great, that Hawk is awesome. But the author's writing style really turns me off. Maybe I'm being too picky. But I don't want to be constantly taken out of the story because the author is too wordy, too detailed (for no reason) and just too TOO much. The characters in Motorcycle Man are fantastic. I see why Tack is everyone's favorite alphahole. And Tyra is a heroine that I actually liked! The story worked for me. The execution, not so much.
