Beth has been chatting on line with Yuri for 6 months. They met through the dating site "A Foreign Affair". Beth has enjoyed chatting with Yuri and she likes him a lot. She is finally ready to meet him in person and possibly take their online friendship further. Yuri is currently unemployed. The club that he managed burned to the ground and he is currently looking for work. When Beth offers to pay for him to fly and stay in New York, he is hesitant. As much as he wants to see Beth, he doesn't want her footing the bill. Both of them are anxious about how they will react to each other once they are face-to-face. Will the chemistry they have online translate when they are physically together?I liked the concept of a Yuri and Beth starting an online relationship. Online dating is very prevalent in today's society so it was believable that Yuri and Beth met in that fashion. When Yuri and Beth first meet in person, they are both anxious about how to act. Yuri is as good looking as he is online and vice versa. There's the awkward dialog, neither one not knowing how to proceed and then Bam. They have sex. The build up to the sexing party has been going on for six months for Yuri and Beth. But for the reader, it's only been 40 pages. I wanted to see more build-up between the characters. Yes, we are supposed to believe that the chemistry between them is already there but I didn't feel it. Because this is an erotic novella, the sex is explained in detail but not too graphic. Some of the sex scenes were not long enough for my taste. Since I had a hard time buying Yuri and Beth's attraction, I wanted more evidence of their attraction and sexual chemistry.I found it difficult for me to become invested in Yuri and Beth's relationship. While he's visiting her in New York, he's also dealing with problems back home. His best friend's mother is battling cancer and Yuri is concerned. There's a bit of plot and dialog that is dedicated to Yuri talking to his friend Nick about his mom. I wasn't expecting this since this is an erotic novella. I didn't really like that dash of sadness and real world problems mixed in with the sex.Decadent Dreams has a lot of potential. I liked the concept of an online relationship becoming more in the real world. But when I finished reading Decadent Dreams, I was a little disappointed. I couldn't connect with the characters and found their sexual chemistry lacking. It also bothered me that there was talk and plans, of getting married, making things permanent. That threw me off considering this is an erotic and not a contemporary romance. Most erotic novellas I've read, there is no talk of real world stuff. I think more time should have been spent on developing the sexual chemistry and less focus on the real world issues and the potential HEA.
