I've been reading a lot of books about married couples in long established marriages and I like it. All romance isn't about being single and looking for love. There's also the flip side of the coin. Married couples who've lost that zing in their relationship and are working their way back to each other.Even though the characters are male, I found Derrick and Trevor's relationship and problems very relatable. They've let their sex life fizzle once Trevor's son comes to live with them. But once Luke is off to college, they don't have anything or anyone standing in their way. So what do they do with themselves? Their lives centered around Luke and now it's just to the two of them again. Trevor is feeling his age and wonders if Derrick is still attracted to him. Derrick is feeling his age and wondering if Trevor is attracted to the older, more mature man that Derrick has become.There is a lot of misunderstanding and mis-communication throughout the novella. Each person is making assumptions about the other. And you know what happens when you assume. A lot could have been resolved if Derrick and Trevor just sat down and talked to one another. But then the novella would be 10 pages long. Haha!I loved the look inside Derrick and Trevor's relationship. They both love each other but have lost their way. They are willing to do what it takes to bring the spice back and they do. There's a smoking hot sex scene that involves a couch that is quite steamy.First Time, Forever is a good read that anyone who has let the fire go out in their marriage or relationship can relate to. I enjoyed this novella a lot and will be looking to read more works by this author.
