I love The Original Sinners series. After reading The Angel, I wanted my hands on The Prince stat! I couldn't wait to read about teenage Kingsley and Soren. And to finally have Wes and Nora together. Even though their relationship probably won't work in the end, I wanted to at least see them attempt at having a relationship. The Original Sinners is not your typical romance and I don't see how anyone can have a HEA. But I digress. Let's talk about The Prince.I've been procrastinating writing this review for a week. Why? Because as much as I love the series and the characters, I did not love The Prince. At the end of The Siren, I cried. At the end of The Angel, I cried. At the end of The Prince, I said, "What the f*ck?!" And not in a good way.The mystery of who stole Nora's file continues in The Prince. A picture of Soren and Kingsley when they were teens was sent to Kingsley. They travel to Maine to visit the all boys school they attended to find out who sent the picture. During this visit, there are flashbacks to when Kingsley and Soren first met and the start of their sexual relationship. The jump from past to present was a little annoying but I knew it had to be done in order to tell the story and give the reader the full emotional impact. While Soren and Kingsley are in Maine, Nora is in Kentucky with Wes, attempting to have a relationship. Of course, Wes' father know who Nora is and what she writes and is not a fan. Nora loves Wes but she's not sure she can have a vanilla relationship with him but she's willing to try. As much as I want the traditional romance for Nora and I want Wes to be The One, I felt that their part in The Prince was boring. All the emotion that I felt between them in The Siren was missing. And then on top of that, there's a mystery thrown in the mix that I felt was unnecessary. When Nora and Wes were together, they talked more about Soren than about their relationship. I mean, why are you talking about another man, a man you want Nora to leave, while you're having sexy times? It was ridiculous. It painted Soren in this good light and made Wes look like a pansy. Was that the point? To reinforce that despite the fact that Soren is a priest who's in a BDSM relationship with Nora, that he's really a good guy, just misunderstood? What kept me reading was that I love the series, the writing and the characters. And of course, Kingsley. We find out the depth of his feelings for Soren and at times, he was kind of a pussy. Soren owns Kingsley. Kingsley would do anything to be with Soren again which is why I felt that he had some ulterior motives going on. There's one scene between Kingsley and Soren that takes place in present day that I'd been waiting for and it fades to black! WTF! The build up was great and then...nothing. The next day Kingsley is sore, battered, bruised. I wanted to know how he got those wounds. I wanted to know what adult Soren did to Kingsley. That totally blew. That should have been something the reader should have been privy to, in full detail.I felt like in The Prince, Reisz was trying TOO hard to make Soren the good guyinstead of letting it happen naturally. Let the reader come to their own conclusion. Don't tell us. Nora constatnly gushing about how great Soren is got on my nerves. I felt like, she should have just left Kentucky if that's all she was going to do. I didn't feel like Nora was as torn about her feelings for Wes like in previous books. It felt like Nora was on vacation, had some time to kill and figured she'd pop Wes' cherry. I like Wes. I was ecstatic when Soren let Nora go to Kentucky with Wes. But now, I'm kinda over Wes and want him to go bye-bye. If he's not going to grow a pair and man the eff up, then he serves no purpose. The mystery surrounding the missing file, the vandalism at Soren's childhood home and the picture was over the top when the person behind it was revealed. It was some straight up soap opera type stuff. The ending did not satisfy me at all. I actually rolled my eyes. I'm not sure I like the direction this series is headed. I'm hoping that this is just a bump in the road and The Original Sinners will go back to wait made me fall in love with the series in the first place. Thanks to Soren and Kingsley, I didn't completely dislike The Prince. I love their relationship and seeing how Kingsley's love for Soren come to fruition. I'm afraid to read The Mistress because of how The Prince ended. This is series is about an unconventional love story. All the other extra drama is taking away from that. And that makes me sad.
