I decided to read Push when I heard it was being made into a movie. Before the movie, I had never heard of the book. The story is about Claireece Precious Jones an illiterate 16 year old who lives in Harlem with her abusive parents.This book is difficult to read. The author describes the abuse that Precious experiences in graphic detail. There were many times where I had to stop reading the book because it was getting too intense. I'm not sure if I'm going to go see the movie. The trailer alone makes me cry every time I see it. And now that I've read the book, I don't know if I want to experience Precious' struggle through the big screen.
